Long City Garden - Bristol

Having recently completed a new extension, my clients were keen to improve the style and look of their garden to meet their aspirations for the space. a long reasonably wide garden had a large drop from the patio created as part of the extension, onto an old very large patio area which was crumbling and broken. this led into a large expanse of garden and chicken coop.

The client was keen to develop the garden to a space they could use to escape the city, with a sense of moving out into the countryside as they headed out into it. they also wanted a further lower patio near the new existing one to create more room for entertaining and barbeques. A number of areas were asked for including a summerhouse, shed, chicken coop and somewhere in the shade to go and relax.

The existing steps leading down to the garden were very central to the extension, so using this I provided a semi formal patio area, taking a lead from country estates, which led through to a shaded pergola and summerhouse space. This created the opportunity for a transition into the wildflower meadow with a raised composite board walk through the meadow, leading down to a smaller patio area which catches the evening sun. With the shed and chicken coop relocated to the end of the garden.

Project is currently in the tender process.
